Thank you, Mr. Benton. It gives me pleasure to respond directly concerning the point of the amendment, but I say to the hon. Member for Birmingham, Hall Green (Steve McCabe) that I cannot remember the 1970s—[Hon. Members: ''Oh!'']—in terms of Scottish law, that is.
The Minister has asked me, by implication, to withdraw my amendment, and I was about to say whether I felt it necessary to divide the Committee. I am well aware that Opposition Members are here in great numbers, and could force a very close Division.
