I am sorry, but we must correct the drivel—if that is a parliamentary phrase—that is being uttered on the Government Benches. If the suggestion is that somehow it is completely open to local authorities in London to distribute children around schools, it is not true. Ultimately, under the new admissions criteria and rules that have been introduced in the last couple of years, schools in London can select the pupils they want. That is the truth. That is not some cosy fantasy world but the real world, in which some schools are hugely oversubscribed.
