The hon. Gentleman’s argument underlines the fatuous nature of league tables. As many hon. Members have already made it clear, the raw results often depend far more on the intake and the area. The conclusion that one school is inevitably better because the children get better results cannot be drawn by comparing them; that is not an accurate distinction.
