Clause 56 - Special procedure for registered early years providers
Childcare Bill
Public Bill Committees, 20 December 2005, 9:00 am

Beverley Hughes (Minister of State (Children, Young People and Families), Department for Education and Skills; Stretford & Urmston, Labour)
I beg to move amendment No. 145, in page 28, line 18, leave out ‘wishes’ and insert ‘proposes’.

David Amess (Southend West, Conservative)
With this it will be convenient to discuss Government amendment No. 147.

Beverley Hughes (Minister of State (Children, Young People and Families), Department for Education and Skills; Stretford & Urmston, Labour)
These are simply drafting amendments that will improve the clarity of the Bill by changing the word “wishes” to “proposes” because “proposes” is a more appropriate legal word—a reference to people proposing to provide child care.
