I just want to point out that, on a definition based on children living in low income households before housing costs, the number of children living in poverty has fallen from 3.1 million to 2.5 million since 1998. If we want to use an alternative definition—the number living in low income households after housing costs—that too has fallen, from 4.1 million to 3.5 million.
