Mr Richard Caborn (Minister of State (Sport and Tourism), Department for Culture, Media & Sport; Sheffield Central, Labour)

The clause deals with the extent of part 1 of the Bill, and it excludes Northern Ireland from the scope of the provision allowing for the sale of the Tote. Northern Ireland racecourses operate their own pools under a separate system of regulation, and the Tote does not run betting offices there.

Clause 14 ordered to stand part of the Bill.

Further consideration adjourned.—[Mr. Kemp.]

Adjourned accordingly at eighteen minutes past Four o'clock till Thursday 22 January at half-past Nine o'clock.
