I listened to the hon. Gentleman's recommendation about engaging with the National Association of Pension Funds. Obviously there are questions about the public sector statutory pension schemes. Other than the civil service scheme, they do not deal with the issue of providing survivors' benefits for unmarried couples, and that scheme does it poorly, in my view. This group of people are judged to be unmarried, because they are, effectively, forced to unmarry. I would be grateful if he would comment on whether there is a duty on the Government to amend legislation to show the way in this respect.
