Clause 10 - Unification of appeal system
Asylum and Immigration (Treatment of Claimants, etc.) Bill
2:30 pm

Mr David Lammy (Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Department for Constitutional Affairs; Tottenham, Labour)
The hon. Gentleman will forgive me, but this morning the hon. Member for South Norfolk (Mr. Bacon) also mentioned the Anisminic case. He was right to raise that, because it was an instance of the courts seeking to oust judicial review for foreign compensation claims. They were, in effect, compensation claims following the state's taking land during times of war.
