Clause 9 - Causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity
Sexual Offences Bill [Lords]
Public Bill Committees, 11 September 2003, 11:15 am

Mr Paul Goggins (Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Home Office; Wythenshawe & Sale East, Labour)
I beg to move amendment No. 43, in
clause 9, page 4, line 2, leave out '(A)'.

Mr Win Griffiths (Bridgend, Labour)
With this we may take Government amendments Nos. 93, 94, 95 and 96.

Mr Paul Goggins (Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Home Office; Wythenshawe & Sale East, Labour)
At long last we have arrived at a stage in our deliberations where we can adopt a slightly more relaxed mode. Hon. Members will have studied the amendments, which are a testimony to the assiduousness of officials and Ministers who spotted that they were necessary. They remove the definition of the person committing the offence as person (A), given that there is no such reference in the clause thereafter.
Amendment agreed to.
Clause 9, as amended, ordered to stand part of the Bill.
