Clause 102 - Objection to notice by the police
Licensing Bill [Lords]
8:55 am

Mr Malcolm Moss (North East Cambridgeshire, Conservative)
The Minister said earlier that the person applying for the notice might not be known to the police, and that there was sufficient time for the police to conduct their investigations into a person. However, the police tell me that in the case of so-called raves, many of the people involved are from outside the area and are unknown to the police, and it takes quite a while to track down the individuals, find out their intentions and learn who they are, perhaps by liaising with other police forces. Will the Minister give the Committee an assurance that in his opinion, the wording of the Bill will not give those who attempt to put on raves, illegal or otherwise, any means of circumventing the law in that regard?
