I rise briefly to correct something that the hon. Member for Surrey Heath said. He has brought into disrepute a colleague of ours, my hon. Friend the Member for Glasgow, Pollok, by saying that he did not support the Government. My hon. Friend said on Second Reading:
''It gives me great pleasure so speak in support of the Government.''—[Official Report, 21 October 2003; Vol. 411, c. 578.]
My hon. Friend does not need me to defend him, but perhaps it is better that I correct what was said, rather than allow him to do so.
