I endorse my hon. Friend's comments. Is he aware that many adopted children are older children with special problems who are supported in residential care? Such support costs society a lot of money, but it does not offer the same love and attention that an ordinary family can provide. That is
one reason why his proposals are welcomed by employer organisations and those who try to persuade people to adopt.
