The First Deputy Chairman of Ways and Means took the Chair as Deputy Speaker, pursuant to the Standing Order.
9:33 am

Robert Flello (PPS (Rt Hon Harriet Harman QC, Minister of State), Department for Constitutional Affairs; Stoke-on-Trent South, Labour)
I beg to move, That the House do sit in private.

Owen Paterson (Shadow Minister, Transport; North Shropshire, Conservative)
On a point or order, Madam Deputy Speaker. I wonder whether you have seen today's edition of The Times. A week after 1.79 million people voted against road pricing, and during the same week that the Prime Minister said that pursuing it would be "kamikaze politics", there is a major statement in The Times by the Minister of State, Department for Transport. Have you heard anything from the Government about whether they plan to come to the House to make their future plans clear?

Sylvia Heal (Deputy Speaker)
That is not a point of order for the Chair. I have not been made aware of a statement, but the Minister is on the Front Bench and will have heard what has been said.

Stephen Ladyman (Minister of State, Department for Transport; South Thanet, Labour)
Further to that point of order, Madam Deputy Speaker.
